Types Of Pumps
A solar water pump functions by using the energy from the sun to pump water from one area to another. It consists of an electrical pump system in which the electricity is provided by one or more PV Solar panels. A typical solar powered pumping system is made up of solar panels that powers an electric motor, which in turn power a bore or surface pump.
Surface Pumps
These sit above ground and move water through pipes. They are beneficial for moving large quantities of water at a slow pace and are commonly found on farms or large irrigation systems where water needs to be moved from a river, dam or borehole to fields or landscaping.
Submersible Solar Water Pumps
These are installed underground, but the solar panels are connected above ground. The pumps are used to move water from inside boreholes to the surface which will be inside a storage tank.
